
Professor Huon H. Gray will give an introductory address on Innovation in Cardiology at the BCS Hackathon on 4th June 2019
Appointed consultant adult and interventional cardiologist to Southampton University Hospital in 1989. Hon. Sec of BCIS (1991-6), Hon. Sec of the British Cardiac Society (1998-200) and President (2003-5). Co-chaired the Dept. of Health’s National Infarct Angioplasty Project (2006-8), which led to the roll out of primary PCI. Clinical adviser to NICE on acute coronary syndromes (2007-10) and chaired its guideline on STEMI (2011-13). Has served in various capacities within the American College of Cardiology (ACC); chair of its International Council (2008-13), on Board of Trustees (2012-16) and member of its Governance Task Force and Committee (2015-19). Designated Master of the ACC in 2018. Honorary professor at Queen Mary’s University, and at University College, London, and has published on various aspects of cardiology and health service delivery. Deputy and then Interim National Clinical Director for Heart Disease at the Department of Health (2007-12), co-producing its CVD Outcomes Strategy (2013), and National Clinical Director for Heart Disease in NHS England since 2013.
